Floriade (D)

Spend this day at the International Horticultural Exhibition Floriade that is staged once every ten years in Holland. Floriade 2022 will be the seventh such expo, held this time in Almere, built on reclaimed land near Amsterdam. Participating countries and horticultural
companies will showcase the world’s most exquisite horticulture: flowers, plants, trees, fruit and vegetables. The theme is “Growing Green Cities”.

Het Loo Palace & Mien Ruys (B/L/D)

Morning visit to Het Loo, the former Royal residence, with sumptuously furnished interiors, where the Dutch Royal Family lived for three hundred years. Reconstructed ‘Baroque’ gardens breathe the atmosphere of their seventeenth century origins. Lunch included today.
Afternoon visit the influential garden of Mien Ruys, the ‘Mother of Modernism’, one of the most important garden architects of the twentieth century. Dinner included tonight.

We are travelling to Brussels today with a morning visit to Vlinderhof Garden, near Utrecht. This public garden, designed by
Piet Oudolf, is part of the much larger Maximapark. It occupies a shallow bowl of space, screened from the larger park by a loose circle of hedges and trees. Check into our deluxe hotel located in Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in the heart of Brussels. Dinner included tonight.

Brussels to Rouen (B/D)

Our destination today is Rouen in Normandy for the second part of our tour. Morning travel to Sir John Monash Centre, near Villers-Bretonneux. Set on the grounds of the Military Cemetery, it tells the story of Australia’s involvement on the Western Front battlefields during the First World War. Arrive in Rouen and check into our 5 star 15th Century historic hotel for 4 nights. Dinner included tonight.

Jardin d’Etreat (B)

The Etretat Gardens that overlook the iconic “Needle” rock cliff of the Etretat coast. Madame Thebault was a good friend of Claude Monet who came regularly to her Villa Roxelane in Etretat to paint. He inspired the famous French actress to create an avant-garde garden
in this idyllic clifftop location. Living sculptures give this garden its dimension.

Chateau de Miromesnil (B)

First stop today is at Chateau de Miromesnil with its classic walled potager. Vegetables, fruits and flowers grow together making a fine tableau with a double flower border at its heart. After lunch to Jardin de Valerianes where the owners have indulged their passion for
plants. Divided into two parts, the English garden with double border and garden rooms. The second, a naturalistic garden with Zen inspired pond garden.

Monet’s Giverny (B/L)

Travel through Normandy to Monet’s Garden at Giverny, where the famous Impressionist painter lived and painted. Claude Monet drew inspiration for his paintings from his garden. Stroll around the Water Garden with its famous Japanese bridge and through the flower
garden, Clos Normand, with roses growing over arches and flowers jostling for space. Check-into our deluxe hotel for 2 nights, located between the historic Opera Garnier and Place Vendome on the famed Rue De la Paix.

Versailles (B/D)

Spend this day in the gardens of Versailles, the masterwork of Andre Le Notre in 1660 for King Louis XIV, that took 40 years to build. Our visit includes the grand formal gardens, the Grand and Petit Trianon and the Queen’s Hamlet. The Trianon estate is most closely associated with Queen Marie Antoinette. The wife of Louis XVI regularly sought refuge at the Petit Trianon, where she commissioned landscaped gardens
centred around a hamlet of cottages built in the rustic style then in vogue. Designed for more intimate moments, this royal estate contains architectural gems and magnificent gardens whose diversity and ornamentation give it a unique charm. Farewell dinner included tonight.
